This house is situated on a forested ridge and features a double-height glass wall that opens to the forest beyond. The building’s massing and simple board & batten siding recall local dairy barns. The garage building has a guest apartment and storage for ski equipment. The simple form and expansive openings defer to the landscape by allowing the colors and textures of the seasons to quietly fill the space.
A double-sided fireplace centers the main living space.
Across from the sauna is a steam-shower illuminated by a window.
The upper bedroom is clad with local oak and painted pine siding.
The sauna’s roof window opens to allow fresh air and a connection to the outdoors.
Simple modern window casing frames the landscape.
Above the garage is a guest apartment.
